He was predeceased by: his parents, James Sauer and Adeline Sauer; his brother Greg Sauer; his sister-in-law Sue Sauer; his nephew Benjamin Sauer; his aunts and uncles, Ann Sauer, Lillian (Adolf Mazna), Clara (Harvey Petska), Mayme (Joe Decker), Raymond (Agnes Sauer), Catherine (Joe Shusta), Helen (Vincent Samz), Eleanor (George Jung), Dorothy (Paul Foreyt), Marie (LeRoy Lasse) and Russell Ruether; and his grandparents, Wencil, Theresa Sauer, Steve and Anna Foreyt.
He is survived by: his wife Jane (Holmes); his siblings, Susan Hein (Charles) of Two Rivers, Tom Sauer of Manitowoc, James Sauer (Lisa) of Oak Hills, California and Mary Sauer Cherney of Victorville, California.; his aunts, Emily Ruether (Agnes Decker) of Manitowoc and Francis Foreyt (Joyce) of Apple Valley; his nieces and nephews, Jason, Jenny Hein of Boulder, Erin Hein, Ben Hein of Two Rivers, Michaela Sauer of Milwaukee, Jeremy, Ashley, Scarlett Sauer of Pinion Hills, Jennifer, Jimmy Sauer of Oak Hills, California, Jesse and Vanessa Sauer of Manitowoc; his grandchildren, Jayme Belongie and Mitchell Belongie; his great grandchild Katharine Belongie; his friends, John Rappel, Steve Hartman, Mark Gruber, Tom Traurig and Mark Greycarek; his caregivers, Elise, Dagiimaa, Shannon and Sheila; Dan O'Connell.
