He was predeceased by: his parents, Matt Schleis and Blanche Schleis (Zimmerhakel); and his wife Margaret M. Benzinger. He is survived by: his children, Virginia Hassemer (Paul) of Francis Creek, Victoria Hrudka (Randy) of Mishicot, Vivian Schuette (Scott) of Manitowoc, Virgil Schleis (Marilyn) of Tisch Mills, Verlyn Schleis (Lanette) of Mishicot, Marilyn Rice of Kaukauna, Merlin Schleis (Joan) of Mishicot and Mary Lou Begotka (Mike) of Whitelaw; his grandchildren, Andrea Busse (Sam), Bryan Hassemer (Cory), Justin Hassemer, Kyle Hrudka (Nicole), Kari Hrudka, Erin Schuette, Rebecca Schleis, Matt Schleis (Juliana), Mikaela Classon, Hannah Rice, Halle Rice, Cassie Wendt (Brandon) and Nathan Begotka; his great grandchildren, Vincent, Evan, Henry, Owen, Elliot, Sylvia, Olivia and Axel; and his sister Beatrice Lawler of Two Rivers. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
