He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Jr. Schmidt and Gladys Schmidt (Hartman); his wife Carol Ott; his son Jerry Jr.; and his siblings, Frank Schmidt III (Ruth), Richard Schmidt and Betty Schmidt.
He is survived by: his daughters, Elizabeth Johnson (Joe) of Menominee, MI, Catherine Steffens (Matt) of Oconto Falls and Mary Yashinsky (Mike) of Spruce; his grandchildren, Madelen Jorgensen (Cory), Alison Caikowski (Dylan), Lilly Cormia (Alex), Matthew Steffens (Chelsey), Emily Marcheske (Thad), Isaac Steffens (Sierra), Abigail Ebenhoe (Tom) and Alexis Faucette (Brad); his pets, Daisy and Ellie; his siblings, Joyce Spice (Jack), Mary Ann Brandonisio (Wayne), Robert Schmidt (Roxy) and Roger Schmidt (Joan); and his sister-in-law Nancy Schmidt. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
