He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur A. Schmitt and Dorothy M. Schmitt; and his siblings, Gail and Neil. He is survived by: his wife Jan of Duluth, MN; his children, Scott (Jana), Kelly and Tammy; his sister Amy (Dave Heckle); his grandchildren, Stephanie and Nicholas; his stepgranddaughter Kristin; and his great grandchildren, Kolton, Kashton, Scott Hartl and Gary Schallock.
