He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Sternweis and Margaret Sternweis (Dierienger); and his siblings, Leo Sternweis, John Sternweis, Tom Sternweis, Cecelia Brandl and Melinda Gropp.

He is survived by: his wife Genevieve "Jenny" Fischer; and his children, Fred Sternweis (Mary), Connie Jazdzewski (Jim), Tom Sternweis, Jerry Sternweis (Kay), Daryl Sternweis (Brenda) and Renee Sternweis (Mike). He is also survived by 21 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.
