He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Heeg and Irene Heeg (Arends); and his in-laws, Alfred and Loretta Meidl. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ann Meidl of Michael's Catholic Church; his children, Brian (Sandee), Todd (Wendy), Vickie (Blu), Keith (Kim) and Aaron (Jenni); his grandchildren, Kati Andres, Alex and Ava Heeg; his stepgrandchildren, Ashley, Brittany and Tyler; and his siblings, Tom Heeg, Mary Jo Newmier and Steve Heeg. He is also survived by 1 great-grandchild on the way, and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
