He was predeceased by: his parents, George Maier and Elsie Maier (Elitzer); his wives, Esther Adams and Joan Montoya; his siblings, Don Maier, Dorothy and Delores; and his son Thomas Maier.
He is survived by: his sister Margaret Collura; his daughters, Kathleen Shaffer and Ann Brandt; his stepdaughters, Christine Montoya and Therese Calcagno; and his grandchildren, James, Lauren, Sarah, Orion, Nicholas and Amanda.
