He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Mattson and Josephine Mattson (Thomma); his wife Mary; his son-in-law Dennis Braun; and his siblings, Carl Mattson, Willard Mattson, Lillian Carlson, Irene Johnson, Virginia Swanson, Lavina Swanson, Isabel Anderson, Victoria Whitney and Helen Noel.
He is survived by: his children, James Mattson (Sharon), Timothy Mattson (Janice), Catherine Braun, Sandra Badden (Jeff Bradley) and Mary Larson (Grant); his grandchildren, Darlene Shuck, Andrew Mattson, Amy Banaszak, Kimbery Hayden (Jeremy), Sara Braun, Susan Crout, Michael Braun (Kaitlin), John Braun, Jessica Schantzen (DeWayne), Douglas Bodden (Becky Chanto), Rebecca Casper (Travis), Scott Larson, Kate Kopp (Matt) and Lynn Larson; his sister Violet Collegnon; and his sister-in-law Inez Mattson. He is also survived by 11 great- grandchildren; and 1 great-great- grandson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Koepsell Funeral & Cremation Services (301 N Walnut St, Mayville, WI 53050). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
