He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Gates and Helen Gates; his siblings, Fred Jr., Janice and Kenneth; and his grandson Jeremy Way.
He is survived by: his sons, Larry Gates II (Deborah) and Greg Gates; his stepchildren, Gus Gudleske (Carrie), Lynelle Gudleske and Larissa Gudleske; his sister Mary; and his grandchildren, Emily Gates, Megan Gates, Tyler Gates, Lacy Gudleske, Cody Gudleske, PJ Gudleske and Freddy Gudleske. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Cress Funeral & Cremation Service - McFarland (5801 US-51, McFarland, WI 53558). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
