She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Merriam and Lois Merriam (Suttles); and her siblings, Deborah Twiford (Merriam), Pamela Johnson (Merriam) and Ronnie Merriam (Ame).
She is survived by: her son Richard Swanger; and her sibling's children, Catherine Merriam, Heather Clohessy and Gary Wallace (Krystal Ethridge). She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
