He was predeceased by: his parents, John Elzen and Angela Van Elzen (Williamsen); his wife Yvonne Walter; his sons, Mark and Patrick Van Elzen; and his siblings, Roger Van Elzen, Dolores Koller, Richard Van Elzen and Robert Van Elzen.
He is survived by: his children, Michelle Schulz (John) and Jackie Schmidt (Rick); his grandchildren, Yvette Tobin (Sean), Stephanie Killingsworth (Todd), Patrick Schmidt (Breanna) and Nathan Schmidt (Kate Manderfield); his great grandchild Emir; his grandson Lance Van Elzen; his great grandchildren, Lauren, Isabella, Cole, John, Thomas, Gabriella, Walker and Collins; his siblings, Donald Van Elzen, William Van Elzen and Donna Simon; Nori Van Elzen.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joes Food Pantry, your local volunteer fire department, and St. Vincent de Paul Society.
