He is survived by: his sons, Ronald Johnson and David "Dave" Johnson (Polly); his grandchildren, Mandy David (John), Alissa Christianson (Brent) and Benjamin (Bridgette); his great grandchildren, Emmett, Eleanor, Eames David and Lucy Christianson; his sister-in-law Shirley Mackey (Allen); and his nieces and nephews, Rich and Lynn.

I had just graduated from college and Al took me under his wing and made me feel very welcome. Al was a great person and boss. He was a great teacher and mentor. Al had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to know Al. John Gebert Merrill, WI.”
