Allan F. Huseth Obituary

Allan Francis Huseth, 91, passed away peacefully on February 20th, 2026, surrounded by loving family.

Born in January 1935 in Breckenridge, Minnesota, Allan was the youngest of eight children and the first in his family to be born in a hospital. He grew up on the family farm near McLeod, North Dakota, where he learned the value of responsibility, resilience, and a strong work ethic—qualities that shaped his entire life.

Allan attended Wyndmere High School, making the 16‑mile journey from the farm each day. A gifted three‑sport athlete, he excelled as quarterback and defensive back on the football team and played third base on the baseball team. Though he initially considered following his father into grain farming, Allan discovered a different calling. He began his studies in pre‑engineering at Long Beach Junior College in California, while living there with his sister Pearl and her family, and later earned his civil engineering degree from the University of North Dakota.

After college, Allan worked for the North Dakota Highway Department in Bismarck, where he met the love of his life, Barbara Ganser. Allan and Barbara married in 1964 and welcomed their first child, Nancy, the following year. In 1966, the family moved to Grand Forks, where Allan earned his master's degree in civil engineering. Their son Jay was born soon after.

Allan's career took the family to Carmel, Indiana, where he began working in pre‑construction engineering, and later to Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. There he joined Walter Hignite's company Wisconsin Soil Testing, Inc. before forming a company, Wisconsin Testing Laboratories, with a partner. The family settled into their first house in 1975 and grew to five with the arrival of their third child, Jeffrey. In 1978 Allan became sole owner of Wisconsin Testing Laboratories, which was truly a family business and which he led with integrity and dedication until his retirement in 2002.

Life in Menomonee Falls was full and joyful. Allan and Barbara enjoyed evenings out at movies, musicals, and local theater productions. They cherished time spent supporting their children's activities and built treasured traditions—Friday fish fries and fondue on holidays among the most memorable. The family was deeply rooted in the Gloria Dei congregation, forming lifelong friendships with the Ebling and Hager families and sharing countless holidays, laughter, and games.

Every summer the family would vacation to North Dakota to visit relatives on both sides of the family.

Allan enjoyed participating in sports in his adult life. After high school he played American Legion Baseball for McLeod. He loved golf and was a skilled bowler, winning multiple league titles at Krueger's Lanes. One of his fondest memories was winning a couple's league championship with Barbara.

In retirement, Allan and Barbara embraced a life of family, faith, and fun. They enjoyed church fellowship, rounds of golf with friends, and regular drives to Ho‑Chunk Casino for an afternoon of slot machines and shared smiles.

Above all, Allan will be remembered as a devoted husband and a generous, loving father.

Allan is survived by his beloved wife Barbara; and his children Nancy, Jay, and Jeffrey. He will be deeply missed, Funeral services for Allan will be held on Saturday, March 7th at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Menomonee Falls Wi. (W180 N7863 Town Hall Road). A visitation for Allan will begin at 11:30am until 12:45pm. The funeral service will begin at 1:00. Burial at Sunnyside Cemetery. If desired, memorials to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church are appreciated.
