Arthur J. Muench Obituary
Of Menomonee Falls, went to his heavenly home on January 9, 2024, at the age of 93 years. Art was born in Milwaukee, on August 26, 1930. After serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict, Art married his "sweetie pie" Gertrude Filo on September 13, 1958. Art enjoyed a long career in construction, so it was fitting that he and his friends built the family home where together Art and Gert raised their four children in Menomonee Falls. Art completed his carpenter apprenticeship in 1957, retiring as a superintendent of construction for the Walgreens Corporation in 1997. Spanning his 40-year career, Art was involved in the construction of many greater Milwaukee area churches, restaurants, shopping malls and commercial and residential buildings. Bowling was a longtime hobby for Art. He participated in many leagues and tournaments, and was even featured on T.V. Art was an avid sports fan. Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers, Marquette, you name it, Art enjoyed watching and cheering on all the Wisconsin sports teams. Art was a people person. His kindness, generosity, sense of humor, fun-loving nature and innate abilities to come up with a quick one liner naturally drew people to him. Art loved food, especially the old-world recipes cooked by his family. He also enjoyed his yearly travel to his special place, Door County. Together with his family, they would relax, cook, eat, share stories, and enjoy playing their own card game "Up North.". The memory of Art will forever be cherished in the hearts of many.
Art will be dearly missed by his children, Timothy Muench, Mary (John) Kispert, Barb Simon, Lori Howley; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Simon, Alex (Jen) Simon, Mikaela (Aaron) Strouse, JJ Kispert; great granddaughters, Emma, Sophie and Kate; sister, Caroline Lussow; and his four-legged companion, Tim's dog, Colbie. Art is further survived by many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gertrude, siblings, Henry, John, Mary and Liz and parents Mary and Henry Muench.
The visitation for Art will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls, from 10AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM. Burial will immediately follow the mass at the St. Anthony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated, to be used for the placement of a memorial bench in honor of Art at a later date.
