Betty L. Hottenroth Obituary

Betty died peacefully on August 16, 2024 after a courageous battle with multiple health issues.

Betty was born November 3, 1939 to the late John and Lorayne Winkenwerder. Betty's father was drafted during World War II when Betty was very young causing Betty, her mother, and younger brother Jack to move multiple times in order to find work and live with family members. When her father returned they settled in Menomonee Falls, where Betty attended St. Anthony Catholic School and later Menomonee Falls High School, graduating in 1958.

On June 28, 1958 Betty married Kenneth D. Hottenroth I and they had four children and moved to Sussex. Betty raised her children in Sussex and was active in the Sussex VFW Auxillary, Sussex Jaycettes, and was a founding member of the Sussex Library Board.

Betty worked for Wisconsin Electric Power Company/ We Energies for 25 years retiring as a Distribution Dispatcher in Training. While Betty worked for the Electric Power Company she studied for and obtained her Electrician's license. Betty enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and traveling. Betty fulfilled a life long dream taking an Alaskan Cruise with her good friend and former co-worker Sandy Hochshield.

Betty is survived by her brother Gary Winkenwerder; children, Jenny (Steve) Gibson, Kenneth D. Hottenroth II, Kim Christopherson and James Hottenroth; niece Samantha DeQuardo. Also survived by her loving grandchildren, Aaron Schumacher, Kristen Schumacher, Austin Kell, Sarah Hottenroth; step-grandchildren Jacqui (Sean) Gibson-Clark, Mark Nichols, Matt Nichols and step-great grandchild Cecilia Clark. Betty was preceded in death by her parents John and Lorayne Winkenwerder, brother John Winkenwerder III, and ex-husband Kenneth D. Hottenroth I.

Visitation on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, W250 N6505 HWY 164 in Sussex from 6PM until time of the Funeral Service at 8PM. Burial will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery in Lannon on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 2PM.

Memorials to St. Joseph Indian School in Chamberlain, SD or Sussex Hamilton High School Scholarship Fund in Betty's name are greatly appreciated.
