Carole Ridenour Allen Obituary

Loving wife, best friend, and amazing mother Carole Ridenour Allen, age 82, passed away Tuesday September 29, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents JD Ridenour and Vivian Irene Ridenour (nee Shannon), and her husband, Thomas. Carole brought joy into the lives of all who knew her; all are now left with a void.

She was born Virginia Carole Ridenour on January 21, 1944 in the tiny town of Norwood, Missouri). Carole spent most of her youth in Earlimart, CA. She earned a bachelor's degree from Fresno State in 1966. It was in Fresno that she met the love of her life and dearest companion Tom Allen. They were married on June 24, 1967, and remained so for nearly 59 wonderful years. To this union were born two daughters, Katherine Shannon and Elizabeth Anne. Tom passed away on June 10, 2026.

Carole spent most of her life as a mom and homemaker but got a job as a floor associate at Kohl's once her nest was empty. She continued at Kohl's for many years, earning the nickname of "Candy Carole" for her constant supply of chocolates, Starburst and Skittles, ready to share with colleagues.

The most important thing in the world to Carole was her family. She was simply the best mother and grandmother ("Granny") ever. Anyone who knew Carole knew she was always there to give people a hug and be their cheerleader. They also knew that she loved animals, taking her "responsibility" to feed and name the wildlife very seriously. Her garden was her refuge and the place where she found her center. She also enjoyed needlecrafts and knitting.

Carole was beautiful inside and out.

Survivors include daughters Katherine Grant (Scott) and Elizabeth Gunia (Brian), granddaughters, Evelyn Rebecca, Vivian Rose, and Bridget Katherine. She is also survived by beloved cats Gilbert and Phoebe, and numerous human friends, including John and Wanda and Steve and Maya.

All who knew Carole will miss her. The world will never be the same without her.
