Frank Lester Yackey Jr. Obituary

Frank Lester Yackey Jr. went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2025.

Frank was born on October 6, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, to Frank Sr. and Mary (Jett) Yackey. He graduated from Mackenzie High School in 1965 and Carroll College in Waukesha, WI, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business in 1986.

In 1966, Frank was drafted to the Army and attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class in the Company B 716th Military Police Corps serving in Fort Hood, Texas, and Saigon, South Vietnam, during the Vietnam War. While in Saigon, he was the Senior Patrol Supervisor for combined patrols with men from Australia, New Zealand, Korea, and the United States. He was honorably discharged in November of 1968.

Frank worked as a Pipe Organ Technician at J.A. Hebert and Son in Southfield, Michigan. It is there that he developed a deep love for pipe organ music. He could always be found near the pipe organ in any church he entered and enjoyed listening to the pipe organ at Organ Piper Pizza.

In October of 1969, he started working at Joseph T. Ryerson and Son in Detroit, Michigan. In 1972, he transferred to the plant in Milwaukee where he worked until retirement in 2004.

On July 8, 1972, Frank married Jan and together they built a beautiful home and life where they raised their two daughters. They became members of Falls Presbyterian Church where Frank served on the Board of Deacons and Trustees for many years. Every Sunday morning was devoted to operating the sound system for the church service and recording tapes for those who were not able to attend in person. Frank enjoyed singing in the church choir and smaller ensembles.

Frank had a passion for photography and videography and used his talents later in life to record and photograph numerous weddings and events. He was also known for setting up slide shows of photographs he had taken for others to view.

Frank is survived by his children: Rachel (Andrew) Harcum and Laura (Robbie IV) Donehoo. Grandchildren: Lorelai, Rhett, Rowan, and Linnea Harcum and Robbie Donehoo V. His sister-in-law: Robbie Kate Yackey. He was preceded in death by his dear wife: Jan, his brother: Carl Yackey, and his parents.

A visitation will be held on June 14, 2025, at Falls Church (W156 N7356 Pilgrim Rd. Menomonee Falls, WI 53051) from 11 AM until the time of the service at 12 PM. Private interment at Sunnyside Cemetery in Lannon, WI.
