Jean R. Long Obituary

(nee Messner) Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late William Long. Loving mother of Gail (Ron) Sperb and Gloria (Gary) Sawitzke. Cherished grandmother of Steve (EmiLee) Sperb, Sandy (Matt) Ostrowski, Kevin (Stephanie) Sperb, Kelley (Jim) Mehring, Jamie (Derek) Degnitz and Jessica (Greg) Antonioni. Proud great-grandmother of Brody, Kylee, Rayce, Hailey, Kenzi, Ashley, Trent, Jocelynn, Peyton, Gianna, Cohen, Jordan, Raelynn, Leo and Connor. Dear sister of Bette (the late Ralph) Minzer. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Jean was a longtime and proud member of the Eastern Star Aurora Chapter #84 and Auxiliary VFW Post #382 in Menomonee Falls.

Private services will be held. Jean will be laid to rest next to Bill at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Milwaukee, WI.

“I send my most sincere condolences to the family. Jean was a big part of our Warm Up America program here at the Menomonee Falls Senior Center. She has been coming here for many years, prior to my starting 10 year ago. She always had a goal to make a certain number of afghans each year that were then donated out to those in need in the area. She even continued to crochet when she was up north at her cabin. We will always remember her and her kind soul.”
