John Mohrfeld Obituary
John Mohrfeld (age 85) of Menomonee Falls passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, with his wife of almost 63 years with him. John was born on August 31, 1939, in Fort Madison, IA to Mary and Herold Mohrfeld.
John married his treasured wife Jean (nee Van Dyke) on July 28, 1962. They met through good friends while both worked at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company where John spent his entire career, retiring in 1999.
Family gatherings meant the most to John and he was infamous for his endless good-byes. John loved the Packers, Brewers and Marquette basketball – he was a very proud alumni, graduating in 1961.
For over 50 years, John and Jean have been members of St. Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls where John served the Lord as a catechist and Eucharistic Minister.
John is survived by his wife, Jean; sons Mike (Sue), Andy (Wendy) and Chris (Terri); grandchildren: Sarah (Steve) Vranek, Matt (Molly), Christopher, Alyssa (Blake) Jenkins, Hailey (fiancé Austin), Claire Lausch (Eric), Samuel and Julianna; great-grandchildren Reagan, Willa and Camden Jenkins; Miller and Margo Mohrfeld. Also survived by brother-in-law Br. Jim Van Dyke, sisters-in-law Mary Mohrfeld and Shirley Van Dyke; nieces Jennifer (Greg) Gill, Lisa (boyfriend Keith) Bascue and Lori (Scott) Biese; nephew Jeff (Christine) Mohrfeld and many other relatives and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom, in-laws Wilma and Tony Van Dyke and brother-in-law Dan.
The family offers a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Vista Pointe Assisted Living and Horizon Hospice.
The visitation for John will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at St. Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, N89 W16297 Cleveland Avenue, Menomonee Falls, WI from 9:30AM until 10:45AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Mary's Catholic Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
