Joyce M. Biehn Obituary

Joyce M. Biehn passed unexpectedly from this life to the next on July 12th with her loving family by her side.

Joyce was born in 1942, the first of three daughters born to Carmen T. and Ruth K. DeLuca. She married Robert Biehn in 1964 and they had three children, Stephanie (David Daleke), Christopher (Mandy Coull) and Andrew (Suzanne) that survive them.

A cherished sister of the late Kathleen "Kay" Lunow Healy, and of Janis DeLuca (Gil Burgstede). She is further survived by her dear brother-in-law William Biehn (Carol), nieces and nephews and their families with whom she held a special place as aunt, friend, and confidant.

Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Antonia, Thomas, Truman, and Lucia all of whom brought her tremendous joy and pride–just ask anyone.

Joyce and Bob were married for 47 years until the time of Bob's death in 2011. Those years were full of shenanigans with the kids, friends, and extended family: skiing, big hugs, hiking, swimming, churching, supper clubs, bowling, and card playing. It was during those years they fell in love with the mountains and found themselves spending time in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

All the while, Joyce was working as a registered nurse, earning her B.S.N., and all but dissertation Master's degree as she advanced her career as a hospital administrator through County General, Froedtert, and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Joyce loved to entertain and was the consummate host, ready with your favorite drink and food carefully prepared with a table set just so. Joyce and Bob traveled to Kenya and Uganda, and served missions in El Salvador which Joyce continued for some time after Bob died. Later, she traveled with friends to Hawaii, Switzerland, Italy, the Galapagos, Mexico, and a cycling trip to Croatia (!) at age 82.

Joyce was a generous, intelligent, driven, strong assertive woman and a loving spouse and mother. "I've never met a woman like her before.". She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.

Memorial gifts may be sent to St. Matthew's Ev Lutheran Church Foundation for the Rev. Gary and Susan Erickson Scholarship fund, or the youth mission trip fund. 1615 N. Wauwatosa Avenue, Wauwatosa WI 53213 (http://www.stmattstosa.org.).
