Larry A. Jones Obituary
Larry Jones, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, with his family at his side. Larry is survived by his high school sweetheart and life-long love, Keryl (nee Krause). He was the loving dad of Paul Jones (Jamie Bennett) of Ashland, Massachusetts, and Katie Horrigan (Jeff) of Germantown, Wisconsin; and the adoring Papa of Sadie and Kerry Horrigan, and Shane Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Imogene Jones of London, Kentucky.
A graduate of Menomonee Falls High School ('68) and UW-Parkside ('73), Larry worked for 22 years at Sears Roebuck, and another 21 years as the Vice President of Fence Sales at Munson, Inc. in Glendale.
He was also a talented musician, singing and playing bass guitar in local bands including The Kids, The Dekes, and The Auroras throughout the '60s and '70s. He sang lead vocals on the single You're Gonna Be The One with his band The American Express, which got significant airplay in the Milwaukee market (listen HERE). In retirement, he rekindled his passion for the bass, spending countless hours in his musical sanctuary, playing and singing along to his favorite songs from The Eagles, Roy Orbison, and his beloved Beatles. He even reunited with an old bandmate to record the vocals on a stirring cover of The Drifters' Up on the Roof (listen HERE).
In addition to music, Larry was a life-long sports fan. He loved nothing more than to spend an afternoon with his family cheering on the Brewers with a hot dog in one hand and a Diet Mountain Dew in the other. He also enjoyed traveling, making frequent visits to see family in Kentucky, Massachusetts and Virginia.
All who knew Larry will miss his warmth, his kindness, and his wit. A memorial will be held on February 17, 2025 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church at W239 N6440 Maple Avenue in Sussex.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either St. Alban's Church, or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
The family sends its heartfelt appreciation and love to the wonderful caregivers and staff at Auberge at Oak Village, and North Shore Hospice Care.
