Mary Kay Buratto Obituary
Mary Kay Buratto passed away on January 18, 2024, at the age of 79, surrounded by her loving family. Mary Kay was born on January 12, 1945, in Chicago, IL, and raised by John and Kathryn Buratto. She leaves behind her sister, Colette Hudik.
Mary Kay was a loving mother and grandmother "Nona," and leaves behind three daughters, Julie (Brian) Esch, Michelle Schuetz, and Carrie (James) Hooghe, and grandchildren Jillian, Devin, Mallory, Hunter, Oaklee, and Joseph. She also loved her nieces, nephews, and friends and loved to regale them with her stories, provide advice or just an ear to listen - usually while drinking a Diet Coke.
Mary Kay completed her bachelor's degree as an adult and ultimately received a Masters of Urban Planning from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 1991. Mary Kay was very proud of her educational accomplishments and championed her children, grandchildren, and others to pursue their educational dreams. She was an alderperson for the City of Mequon and served as a planner for various communities in southeastern Wisconsin.
A big thank you to the many nurses, doctors and staff at Froedtert Hospital who made her last few weeks happy and peaceful. Any donations in her honor may be made to the charity of your choice or to the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
