He is survived by: his sons, Richard Maas Jr. (Susan), Martin Maas (Ellen) and William Maas (Susan); his grandchildren, Erich Maas (Whitney), Anna Bradshaw (Richard), Abigail Todman (Jarryd), Lydia Fetzner (Luke), Mary Davis (Andrew), Elisabeth Davis (Dakota), Sara Boone (Ethan), Alex Maas (Mikayla), Austin Maas (Lindsay Mattson) and Carla Nelson (Chris); his great grandchildren, Jace, Esme Todman, Lenyn, Millie Jo Maas and Ella Nelson; and his brother-in-law Earl Herman (Joanne). He is also survived by relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard's name may be contributed to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church or to the charity of one's choice.
