Travis John Peters Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved child, Travis John Peters, who was taken from us on September 27, 2024, at the young age of 33. Travis brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives and the depth of love and happiness he shared will forever remain in our hearts. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.

Beloved son of Mark David Peters and Pamela Ann (James) Rusch, who cherished every day spent with him. Loving sibling of Brittany Peters and Michael Hinkens, who were fortunate to have spent a beautiful summer connecting and laughing with him. Treasured grandson to Christina Strelow, who never failed to pray for him. Adored nephew of Deanna (Michael) Mueller, Gregory Strelow, Susan Ruemler, and Brenda (Michael) Marchildon. Travis was preceded in death by his grandmother, Beverly Peters, and his grandfathers, John Peters and Harry Strelow, all of whom are happy to be reunited with him in heaven.

Travis was born on May 22, 1991, four days before his mother's birthday. From the moment he came into our lives, all who knew him felt Travis's compassionate nature. As a kid, he enjoyed visiting museums and catching bullfrogs in his grandma's pond with his sister. He loved learning, especially about science and physics, and was skilled in martial arts. He was always looking forward to the newest technology and tried tirelessly to teach his parents how to use their smartphones, iPads, and watches. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and worked in the medical and mental health fields.

Caretaking came naturally to Travis, especially when it came to a rescue dog from Nicaragua named Pita, whom Travis and his father nurtured and carried through her golden years. Travis was quietly funny, never the loudest person in the room, and a beam of light for those who knew him. He was accepting and inclusive of all people and brought with him an understated brightness. Travis's physical presence will be missed immensely by his family, but his gentle, kind, sensitive soul will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

Private Services will be held at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral & Cremation Services on Saturday, October 5th. In lieu of flowers, please listen to Taylor Swift and think of Travis.
