Charles R. Kohli Obituary

Charles "Chuck" R. Kohli, of Mequon, passed away peacefully at home July 26, 2025, at the age of 96.

Chuck was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to the late Raymond and Ethel (nee Akerman) Kohli and was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of Custer High School and UW-Madison where he was a member of the fraternity Phi Sigma Kappa. He served in the US Navy. After his duty in the service, he was employed with Wisconsin Electric for 38 years. In 1955, he married Doris Powell and they were happily married for 66 years, raising their two daughters in Mequon.

He was involved in numerous volunteer organizations including, Mequon-Thiensville Jaycees, Mequon Men's Club, United Way and the Mequon Grasslyn Nature Preserve committee.

He was especially proud of his service as a charter member of the Mequon Police Reserves, serving for 58 years, retiring as Captain. He dedicated and sacrificed a large part of his life for the benefit of the community and citizens of Mequon.

He also loved genealogy, woodworking, gardening, chair caning, golfing and spending time with his family.

Chuck is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Bradley) Kohli-Storm and Kathleen Kohli; his sister Shirley (late Russell) Anderson; and sister in-law Mary (Martin) Lorenzi; nieces, nephews and friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved wife Doris; numerous relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank John, Kayla, Al, Emily, Mark, Taylor and Emma from Lily Home Health and Lily Hospice of Brookfield for the exceptional loving care and compassion they provided to Chuck.

A special thank you to John Schuetze who provided spiritual guidance and friendship to Chuck and Doris for many years.

Services will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13037 W. Capital Drive, Brookfield, WI on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in the Chapel of the Chimes. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM. Entombment will follow at The Garden of Eternal Life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (Seminary Fund), 11831 N. Seminary Drive, Mequon, WI 53092, in Chuck's name are appreciated.
