He was predeceased by: his daughter Judy Pence (Tom); his sister Rhoda Silver; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Silver and Jim Polacheck. He is survived by: his wife Joan Kerns; his sons, Bill Kerns (Patty) and Jim Kerns; his grandchildren, Danny (Caitlin), Michael (Emilie), David Kerns (Liana), Ananda, Max Kerns, Andrew Pence (Giuli), Jenny Kozik (Eric) and Sam Pence (Annika Erickson); and his sister-in-law Terri Polacheck. He is also survived by other relatives, and friends.
