Thomas G. Verstegen (68) of Mequon, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at home on April 16th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a two-year battle with glioblastoma.

Tom was born in Madison, Wisconsin on May 1, 1954, to Carl and Doris Verstegen. Upon graduating high school in Little Chute, he moved to Milwaukee. In 1987 Tom moved to Mequon where he resided for the remainder of his life.

He married the love of his life, his "valley girl" Ann (Koepke) Verstegen of Neenah, Wisconsin, on July 23rd, 1988. Together they raised two sons, who he was immensely proud of, Leeland and Lucas.

For 34 years Tom was employed as a mechanical engineer at GE medical, taking great pride in his work. He retired in 2017 ready to pursue new adventures and travel the country with Ann in their Sprinter RV.

He was a man of many talents displaying boundless energy and ambition. Tom had a lifelong passion for biking, motivating him to annually record thousands of miles on his bicycles, enjoying many Thursday night and Sunday fun-day rides with his closest friends. His competitive nature led him to complete 37 American Birkiebeiner ski races, and run many marathons, his last one being the 100th Boston marathon in 1996.

Tom is survived by his wife Ann of 35 years, his sons Leeland Verstegen of Saukville, Wisconsin, and Lucas Verstegen of Beaverton, Oregon, sister-in-law Karn Gollnick of Antigo, Wisconsin, and brother- and sister-in-law Gary and Nancy Koepke of Appleton, Wisconsin.

He is further survived by his father, Carl Verstegen of Little Chute, Wisconsin, siblings, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Doris Verstegen, father- and mother-in-law Gerald and Bertha Koepke and sister-in-law Sandy Koepke.

May Tom once again enjoy the company of his lifelong friends Hoofer and Fuzzy. "Always forward, never straight."A Celebration of Life is planned for the afternoon of Sunday, June 11th at Brown Deer Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
