He is survived by: his wife Judy Ashbrenner of Merrill; his son Rich Ashbrenner (Julie) of Merrill; his granddaughters, Ashley Ann, Lydia Mae and Maria Judith; and his siblings-in-law, Dallas Ashbrenner of Rhinelander, Dennis Stiver of Merrill, Jean Westfall of Marathon, Geraldine Natzke (Larry) of Eau Claire, Carol Berndt of Merrill, Irene Mroczenski (David) of Marathon and LuAnn Schneider (Mark) of Athens. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial in Dick's name may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or School in Merrill.
