He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Schmidt and Erna Schmidt (Oestreich); and his in-laws, Gus, Marie Balschun (Arseneau), Dale Fisher and Pat McCarty.
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Schmidt; and his siblings, Ken Schmidt (Carla) and Marie McCarty. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 13th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Waid Funeral Home (301 Eagle Dr, Merrill, WI 54452). A memorial service was held on Monday, July 13th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
