He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Helmke Jr. and Lorraine "Hansen" Helmke; his siblings, Joan Grosse, Joel Helmke and Linda Zander; and his brothers-in-law, Ralph Reisdorf and Walter Zander.

He is survived by: his sons, Lucas Morgan and Garrett Helmke; his brother Edward Helmke (Sheila); and his siblings-in-law, David Grosse and Karen Zander. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Gunderson Funeral and Cremation Care- Middleton (7435 University Ave, Middleton, WI 53562). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
