He was predeceased by: his wife Susan Sommers (Tadych); and his parents, Walter Sommers and Jane Sommers (Wolf). He is survived by: his children, Ken Sommers (Fran), Jeff Sommers, Pamela Sue Conine (Bill) and Mark Sommers; his grandchildren, Alisia Zaremba-Gens (Erik), Eddie Nevins V, Savannah Conine, Madison Conine, Gunnar Conine, Gabriella Sommers and Ken Sommers Jr.; his great grandchild Ellie Nevins; his siblings, Roy Sommers, Lois Barutha, Kay O'Brien and Michael Sommers; and his siblings-in-law, Raymond Tadych, Jim Tadych, Betty Hauerwas and Jack Tadych. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.
