Dorothy (Mike) Brinkmann, née Stark, of Milwaukee, WI, passed away August 19, 2024.
Loving mother of Doug Brinkmann, Oconomowoc, WI.; Donald Brinkmann, deceased; and many friends and relatives. Peggy Bier, predeceased xxx, Mike's love of her life.
Kris Radish in her 2014 book "Gravel On the Side of the Road" described Mike as "tall and when she walked she looked like a swaying willow that was moving to an unspoken rhythm…. She emitted a sense of kindness.". Mike volunteered for twenty years for the Great Blue Heron Girl Scouts in Waukesha, WI. She was the camp director.
Mike returned to college and received her BA and MS in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. She was a volunteer Mediator. She received the Volunteer Mediator of the Year Award for the State of Wisconsin.
Mike loved the outdoors especially camping and canoeing. Her best canoe trip was a hundred mile canoe trip in Maine and her best travel trip was to New Zealand. Her artistic side she did watercolor paintings, quilting and pottery.
Friends and family would like to thank the staff and fellow residents at Hart Park Square as well as the hospice staff.
Those who knew Mike, knew how special she was and will miss her immensely. Celebration of life will be scheduled for 30 to 60 days.
