Jo Ann Melchiorre Obituary
Jo Ann Melchiorre passed away peacefully on April 26th, 2022 at the age of 81 years.
Jo Ann was born in Milwaukee, WI on August 6th, 1940, the only child of Sabatino Samuel Melchiorre and Lydia A. (nee Trinitapoli) Melchiorre. She was born and raised on the lower Eastside of Milwaukee, an area she loved and resided in all her life.
Growing up Jo Ann enjoyed living across the street from Cass Street Playground, where she socialized with her peers that became lifelong friends. She also enjoyed cheering on the Milwaukee Braves especially the 3rd baseman Eddie Mathews who she had a crush on. Shopping was a favorite pastime for Jo Ann, many Saturday afternoons were spent at Gimbles with her mother and Aunt Devina. Jo Ann was an animal lover; she was always spoiling her French Poodle Pierre and Bichon Frise Beauregard.
Jo Ann graduated from St Rita's Grade School, St Joan Antida High School, and Marquette University. She spent time in Quebec Canada perfecting her French. She became a teacher and taught Math and French at Bayview High School. There were many occasions when "Ms. Melchiorre" would be out and about and former students would approach her, recollecting how she was their favorite teacher, she retired from teaching in the mid-90s.
Jo Ann loved her Italian heritage and was an active member of the Italian Community Center, as well as a volunteer at Festa Italiana. She also helped run the infamous spaghetti dinners for her parish Three Holy Woman, she organized the volunteers to ensure the event was a success and to make sure that it was never held on a Packer Sunday, so she didn't miss cheering for her favorite team and especially her favorite quarterback – Brett Favre.
Jo Ann is survived by MANY loving relatives and close friends who will miss her dearly. May her memory be eternal, and she rest in peace.
Visitation Monday May 2, 2022 at Three Holy Women Parish- St Rita Church, 1617 N Cass Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202 from 9:00am to 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery 7301 W Nash St, Milwaukee WI 53216. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Three Holy Women Parish-Milwaukee appreciated.
