He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Wendelberger and Elizabeth Wendelberger. He is survived by: his spouse Kelly; his children, Kate, Kevin and Ryan Wendelberger (Jessica); and his granddaughters, Emma and Elena. He is also survived by four sisters, five brothers, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.

“We three Koenig girls are all heartsick at the loss of our dear cousin. God had a plan to save him for awhile through Janet's bright and loving action, but then it was time for Him to take Johnny Home. We all love, love, love our Wendelberger cousins through and through. So many joyous memories!! John is sorely missed, but we throw a mantle of love and prayers over the shoulders of his immediate family and all who knew and loved him.
