He is survived by: his wife Deborah Marie Checkai; his daughter Sabrina Lynn Messer (Jason); his granddaughter Emily Deborah; his stepfather Clarence Meyer; his siblings, Patricia Gnadt (Randall) and Ignatius Checkai (Cheryl); his mother-in-law Marlene Busalacchi; his sister-in-law Jerelyn Semmelmann; and his nieces and nephews, Michelle Fischer (Matthew), Christopher Gnadt (Stephanie), Joseph Gnadt (Marissa), Anton Gnadt (Sarah), Joshua Checkai (Clarissa), Sarah Checkai, Austen Semmelmann (Sierah Gurske), Carley Semmelmann-Wojciechowski (Nick), Dillon Semmelmann and Evelyn Semmelmann.
