Andy Packard wrote a sympathy message

“I just found out about his passing. He is surely missed. I met Rand in 2001 and assisted with his life insurance practices off and on for the better part of a decade. We stayed acquaintances. He met me for lunch about 5 years ago on short notice as I was distraught, he never let me pay, to discuss a career transition. He always was a great listener and offered excellent wisdom. A big heart and great sense of humor. The world is smaller without him. Cheers bud”
