He was predeceased by: his parents, Palmer Duerst and Mavis Duerst (Figy); his wife Hazel Engen; and his brother Eugene. He is survived by: his children, Mark Duerst (Nury), Dennis Duerst (Lois) and Marilyn Herzberg (Tom); his grandchildren, Brandon (Stephanie), Austin, Amanda, Ben (Jessica), Abby (Logan), Jacob (Hannah), Trevor and Tyler; his great grandchildren, Vida, Jack and Sophie; his sister Carol Hustad (David); and his sister-in-law Norma Duerst. He is also survived by nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Swiss United Church of Christ (18 5th Ave, New Glarus, WI 53574). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the New Glarus Public Library.
