She was predeceased by : her parents, Edward Schaefer and Lucille Schaefer; her husband Glenn Ross; and her grandson Gage. She is survived by : her children, Kim Ross of Minocqua, WI, Chris Ross of Oswego, IL and Brian Ross of Fargo, ND; her grandsons, Aiden and Kobe Ross of Plano, IL; and her siblings, Patricia Hartmann (Kenneth), Joan Gillette (David LeFavour) of Rockford, IL, Kathleen Thorp (Daniel) of Chanhassen, MN and Michael Schaefer (Patricia) of Aurora, IL. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Peace Lutheran Church (10868 Old 51 N, Woodruff, WI 54568). A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.

Karen enjoyed volunteering for the Howard Young Foundation and the Lakeland Food Pantry, gardening, bird watching, baking, and participating in church bible studies.
