He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald L. Akins and Margaret H. Akins (Tornow). He is survived by: his wife Diane Akins; his children, Eileen Bennett (Bob), Jeremy Akins, Emily Gutierrez (Oscar), Pamela Gough (Brett) and Priscilla Akins; his grandchildren, Lukas Bennett (Jenelle), Rebecca Bennett-Pfile (Ryan), Bryce Gough, Alessandra Gough and Arabella Gough; his great grandchildren, Kaiydyn, Asypen, Gracelyn and Emmett; and his siblings, Eugene Akins (Sandra), Stephen Akins (Phyllis) and Linda Klassy (Neal). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Leisure Lanes (2308 6th Ave, Monroe, WI 53566).
To honor Lavern's memory the family is establishing a memorial fund in his name.
