Jill L. (Svitak) Borucki Obituary

Jill L. Borucki, best friend and beloved wife of John, passed away in the comfort of their home on February 16, 2024, at the age of 73.

In addition to John, Jill is further survived by dear sister Joyce (Joe) Tevz, brothers in law Mark (Brenda) and Philip Borucki, niece Amy (Phil) Hauser and their children; Max, Caleb, Jace, and Trent, niece Cindy Tevz and her son Cory (Frances), and nephew Johnathan (Jane) Tevz and their children; Steele, Colton, Adison, and Autumn. Jill was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Mildred (nee Hartwig) Svitak.

A love story began when John and Jill met in 1968. By the time they married in 1971, it was evident that John's love of cars had rubbed off on her. They honeymooned in Jamaica, and within a week of their return, Jill was stripping the paint off John's '60 Corvette knowing he'd planned to have it redone. Among other things they enjoyed together, John and Jill would spend the next 55 years attending car shows and more than 20 Daytona and Indy 500 races. John knew Jill was truly something special as she wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty and was always willing to help. In John's words, "She was the fastest 4 speed manual shifter ever … better at it than any men I ever knew.". Jill was a graphic artist and worked at L.M. Berry and Company in Elm Grove for 37 years. Creativity ran in her blood and could be seen in the many projects she bore throughout her life.

Although Jill had a deep affection for all animals, she was particularly fond of cats and had many feline friends. She made wine, collected turtles, and found great joy and purpose in DIY projects … her last completion being the beautiful restoration of a deteriorating carousel horse purchased at a car show.
