Margaret J. Blott Obituary

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Jean (McGuire) Blott on October 4, 2026. Margaret's passing ends a bold and adventuresome life.

Marge was born August 8, 1929 to Alphonse and Loyola McGuire of Highland, Wisconsin. She grew up in a home filled with music. The family that was particularly proud of their Irish heritage. A heritage she loved to celebrate.

Marge enrolled at Whitewater State Teachers College in the fall of 1948. Here she met her college sweetheart, Ray Blott who would one day become her husband. During this time, unbeknown to her, Marge's parents and a local photographer enter her into a contest. She became the first Alice and Dairyland of Wisconsin. A program developed by the State Agriculture Department to promote Wisconsin dairy products nationally.

She traveled thousands of miles promoting Wisconsin agriculture. Northwest Airlines named an airplane "Alice" which Marge traveled on. In the many public appearances she attended, she met a number of celebrities of the era. Marge played the piano at the Grand Ole Opry with Minnie Pearl and with Guy Lombardo in New York. She met Louis Armstrong. Wisconsin's Liberace presented her with a hand painted scarf at one of his concerts. On a trip to California, a Hollywood studio offered her a screen test. She turned down the screen test as silly.

Upon completion of her Alice and Dairyland duties, Marge started a busy modeling and public relations career in Chicago. She performed in local radio and television commercials.

Marge gave up her budding career to return to Wisconsin to marry her college sweetheart, Ray. A marriage that lasted 59 years and produced two sons. She returned to college and obtained Bachelors and Master's degrees in Elementary Education. Marge taught for 25 years in Mukwonago. A favorite teacher of many of her students.

Marge and Ray called Mukwonago home for their entire marriage. Their years together included boating on Lake Beulah, various bridge clubs, golf, snowmobiling and winters at their Arizona vacation home.

But the greatest joy was the people in her life, especially her family. She was a selfless person, always putting family first. Marge was kind, friendly and gracious to everyone. A strong positive role model for us all. Marge will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband Ray; her parents Loyola and Alphonse McGuire; brothers Daniel and Michael; sisters Helen (Harold) Polzer and Mary (Sidney) Pringle.

She is survived by sons: Daniel (Marykaye); Jeff (Mary); grandsons: Benjamin; Adam (Erin); Sean (Audrey); great grandchildren: Makena, Delilah, Natalie, Wyatt and Alice; sister Maureen (Donald) Ayer.

Visitation will be held St. Jame's The Less Catholic Church (830 E. Veterans Way, Mukwonago) 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Mukwonago.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Institute. On behalf of the family of Margaret Blott, we would like to extend our thanks to the staff at Birchrock Castle for the care and devotion that was provided to Marge. They were great.
