He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Brugger and Mary Brugger (Richards); his siblings, John, Paul, David, James "Jim", Mark Brugger, Mary Bendorf and Barbara Osborn; his in-laws, Walter "Bunny" and Barbara Oldham; and his brother-in-law Dennis Oldham.

He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; his children, Matthew (Denyse) and Melanie; his grandchildren, Mikaela Brugger (Payton Bymers), Bailey Nash (Aubrey), Dakota Breitung, Kaiden Hartung, Tyler Hartung (Katie), Taylor LeBrocq (Cooper) and Katie Villiard (Tanner); his siblings, Tom Brugger (Marilyn), Kristine "Kris" Becker, Steven "Steve" Brugger and LeeAnn Stark; and his siblings-in-law, Robert Osborn, Douglas Oldham (Susan), Carol Brugger, Mary Brugger, Shari Immerfall (Ray) and Rhonda Peterson (Glenn). He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Gesche Funeral Home & Cremation Service (4 S Grand Ave, Neillsville, WI 54456). A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. The military honors was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. A reception was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the American Legion Hall (6 Boon Blvd, Neillsville, WI 54456).
