He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Ellenbecker and Mary Jane Ellenbecker. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen; his sons, Brian Ellenbecker (Rebecca) and David Ellenbecker (Nicole Newby); his granddaughters, Olivia and Charlotte Ellenbecker; his siblings, James (Patti), Edward (Margaret), Thomas (Catherine), Charles Ellenbecker (Alice "Cookie") and Mary Schulenburg (Randy); and his daughter-in-law Lisa Ellenbecker. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center.
