He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Frey and Gladys Frey; his wife Bernadine Purfeerst; his brother Lorin Frey (Beaner); and his brothers-in-law, Jerry, Lawrence Purfeerst and Dan Kraemer.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Frey (Peggy), Tom Frey (Sue), Brian Frey (Brenda) and Lisa Earley (Pat); his grandchildren, Kristine, Katie, Alison, Patrick, Jared, Kyle, Landon, James, Erin and John; his great grandchildren, Keegan, Keira, Ryan, Parker, Whitnee and Scarlette; and his sisters-in-law, Judy Frey, Barb Kraemer, Pat Purfeerst and Kathleen Purfeerst. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
