Dean A. Plante Obituary
Dean Allen Plante, 67, of Oconomowoc, WI passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025 at AngelsGrace Hospice after a valiant thirteen year battle with cancer. Dean was born on August 3, 1957 in Oconomowoc, WI, the son of Andrew A. and Virginia A. (Peters) Plante. Dean graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1975 and on August 16, 1980, he married Joanne M. (Engh) Plante at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Joanne was Dean's best friend and the love of his life and preceded him in death on July 4, 2021. Dean retired from Fiberesin Industries, Inc. in 2022 after forty-four years of service.
Dean had a life-long passion for sports and spent much of his free time watching baseball, basketball and football. He was a fan of every team and every player on the field. Most notably, Dean was a collector of sports cards; a pastime he enjoyed since the late '60's. Introducing this hobby to his sons and watching them brought Dean lots of joy. In his earlier years, Dean enjoyed woodworking and maintaining his beautiful lawn. Dean and late wife Joanne loved animals and had golden retrievers for most of their time together.
Dean is survived by sons Andrew of Oconomowoc; Benjamin (Emily) of Beaver Dam; granddaughter Madeline of Lebanon; sisters Marcia of Hartland, Gayle of Whitefish Bay; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew A. and Virginia A. Plante; brother Timothy P. Plante; sister Christine A. Schmidt and wife Joanne M. Plante.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Angelsgrace Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 12 PM Noon on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Schmidt and Bartelt Funeral Home, 121 S Cross St, Oconomowoc. Burial to follow at La Belle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are welcome.
