He is survived by: his wife Sara Svejda; his daughters, Savanah and Samantha; his mother Jeanne Van Ess Jennings (Wally); his siblings, Jamie Cowling (James Madderon), Jina Van Ess and Jack Van Ess (Beth); his stepsisters, Julie Brewer and Tiffany Bain (Schyler); his parents-in-law, Brenda Svejda and James Svejda; and his sisters-in-law, Susan McDougal (Chad) and Sallie Grimm (Shane). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (716 Madison St, Oconto, WI 54153). A rosary was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 at 12:15 PM at the Oconto Catholic Cemetery (3038-3040 N River Rd, Oconto, WI 54153).
