He was predeceased by: his parents, Merlyn Winters and Wilda Winters (Hanson); his wife Kathleen McClanahan; and his children, Rhonda and Eric.

He is survived by: his children, Michael Winters and Hollie Bowker (Winters); his son-in-law Chuck Timm; his grandchildren, Ian Bowker, Nathan Skaar, Chip Timm (Megan), Kylee Skaar and Mackenzie Timm (Collin Brown); and his great grandchildren, Nolan Lemek, Emma, Hadley and Shea Timm.
