It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gary D. Schafer of Onalaska, Wisconsin, born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, who passed away on August 31, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Schafer and Virginia Schafer (Sobkowiak); his wife Susan Marie Schafer (Merrell); and his brother Kenneth Schafer. He is survived by: his sister Darlene Schafer; and his children, Kevin Schafer, Craig Schafer (Holly), Keith Schafer (Donna), Stephanie Harreld (Monty), Christopher Schafer and Cory Schafer (Ann).
