It is with sadness that the passing of Doris M. Gafner of Oostburg, Wisconsin is shared. Doris, born on May 20, 1938, passed away on August 31, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Deal and Ludmilla Deal (Zore); her husband Fred Gafner; her daughter Holly Shanaberger; and her brothers, Robert Deal (Jan) and Ronald Deal.
She is survived by: her children, Eric Gafner (Mari) of San Francisco and Heather Hoogester (Scott) of Batavia; her grandchildren, Nathan Pompe (Anna), Kenzie Held (Cole), Tyler Hoogester (Blaire), Darby Mueller (Brandon) and Sydney Shanaberger (Shannon McLoon); her great grandchildren, Holly, Reese and baby Held on the way; her sister Victoria Farmer (Rodney); her sister-in-law Shirley Deal; and her brother Tom Deal (Cathy). She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Wenig Funeral Home - Oostburg (108 Center Ave, Oostburg, WI 53070). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Doris's name for the Walk to End Alzheimer's hosted by the Alzheimer's Association (donations made directly to Heather Hoogester).
