He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Sperstad and Anna Sperstad; his brother Sidney Sperstad; and his son Duane Vinje Jr.. He is survived by: his daughter Brenda Shields (Mike); his brother Marvin Sperstad (Marilyn); and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Shields, Tiffany Shields (Kyle Burdick), Heather Boehme (Jason), Jennifer Grant (Felipe Cavalcanti), Jonathon Vinje-Shields (Jacqui) and Nicholas Vinje-Shields. He is also survived by many great grandchildren.
